Law Week Festival Hub

The Law Week Festival Hub is where you can find out more information about Law Week, talk to event partners, listen to music, pick up a program, balloons and stickers, dress up in our photo booth, and make your very own fingerprint badge.

Our Law Week talks series provides an opportunity to attend special events and presentations at the hub, where you can also speak with staff from various legal organisations. Please check the program for times and the individual event listing for full details.

Monday

10:00am - 11:00am Law Week talks: Victorian Inspectorate
What is the Victorian Inspectorate and what does it do? Come and talk to officers of the Victorian Inspectorate to learn more about the VI.

10:30am – 2:30pm Crepes for Change
Buy a crepe from Australia’s first non-profit crêpe van. A social enterprise that is entirely youth led and supports young people who are currently experiencing homelessness.

11:00am - 12:00pm Law Week talks: Tarwirri information stall
Tarwirri will be holding a stall with information on the organisation and the events we will be running for Law Week celebrations.

12:00pm - 2:00pm Law Week talks: Ask a family lawyer
Accredited Family Law Specialist, Annmarie Farrell, will be available to answer all of the questions that you have ever wanted to ask about family law.

12:00pm – 2:00pm Law Week talks: Learn about Victoria Legal Aid
Come and meet staff from Victoria Legal Aid and find out more about how we help people with their legal problems.

12:15pm - 1:00pm Law Week talks: SOLD! Buying & selling in 2017
Gain a unique advantage during the process of buying and selling property by participating in the Law Week seminar on conveyancing, presented by Forty Four Degrees Lawyers and Consultants.

1:00pm - 2:00pm Law Week talks: Call the Ombudsman
The Victorian Ombudsman is a free, fair and independent service open to all Victorians. Come along to our Call the Ombudsman session to find out how we can help.

Tuesday

8:30am Walk for Justice
On Tuesday morning Justice Connect and the LIV are re-launching the annual Walk for Justice in Melbourne. This is a national event, which celebrates National Pro Bono Day and Law Week. The 5km walk will commence at the County Court forecourt, and finish at the Law Week festival hub at Fed Square.

Come and meet our Directors and students at the Deakin Law School free law clinics and find out more about our services.

12:00pm - 2:00pm Law Week talks: Renting pop-up
Get information about tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities from Consumer Affairs Victoria, or find out how to resolve a renting dispute at VCAT. Staff from both organisations will be available to answer your questions.

12:00pm – 2:00pm Law Week talks: Learn about Victoria Legal Aid
Come and meet staff from Victoria Legal Aid and find out more about how we help people with their legal problems.

1:00pm - 2:00pm Law Week talks: Victorian Inspectorate

2:00pm - 3:00pm After Hours Band
After Hours is a young yet highly credentialed Melbourne jazz group. Each member is a skilled VCA graduate with extensive experience, including a performance for the Queen of England at Government House and weddings and functions at venues such as the Melbourne Town Hall, the MCG and Crown Casino. Let After Hours help you while
away the evening with their impressive repertoire of jazz classics and
modern favourites.
