Seeking Refuge - An evening with Peter Holmes à Court, Alissa Everett & Aziz Muhamat

What makes a person leave their home? How are governments around the world reacting? How could Australia respond in a humane manner? In January 2016, Peter Holmes à Court and Alissa Everett began a written and photographic journey to document the lives of people seeking asylum.

The Human Rights Law Centre invites you to hear Peter and Alissa talk about their work, followed by a Q and A with the HRLC's Daniel Webb and Aziz Muhamat (via Skype), a refugee from Sudan who Australia has held on Manus Island for almost 4 years.

This conversation will be facilitated by Roj Amedi, who will lead the discussion in exploring Australia’s current policies, their impact on those who seek asylum, and the policy alternatives we need to pursue.
