- qualified privilege
A defence that gives protection against a defamation lawsuit. It can be used if information was given not to cause harm, and to someone who had a public interest in getting it and who acted reasonably when they published it.
The number of people who have to be present in a meeting for a vote passed by the meeting to be valid. For example, one-third of all the senators have to be present in parliament for a Senate vote to be valid.
